Initially, 15 non-street-legal units will be produced, with plans to homologate an additional 54 examples for road use. Though the price remains undisclosed, it’s expected to be as exclusive as the car itself. Enthusiasts eager to catch a glimpse of this masterpiece had the chance to see it debut on the ramp at Pebble Beach during this year’s Monterey Car Week. How an Ex-Hypercar Designer Shocked the World with the Nilu27

In one of the most ambitious collaborations to date, Team McLaren’s Formula 1 driver Lando Norris recently took the wheel of a life-size LEGO Technic McLaren P1 at the legendary Silverstone Circuit. Built with over 342,000 LEGO Technic pieces, this fully drivable hypercar has captivated both motorsport enthusiasts and LEGO fans alike. Driving around the 3.66-mile Silverstone track, Norris made history for both brands by becoming the first F1 driver to pilot a life-size LEGO car that not only turned corners but completed a full lap.

The idea for the life-size McLaren P1 LEGO build started<a href="https://www.planetf1.com/news/lando-norris-lego-technic-mclaren-p1-silverstone"> back in July 2024</a>, following the successful release of the 1:8-scale LEGO Technic McLaren P1. This sparked the imaginations of both McLaren and LEGO teams—could they scale up the concept and make a functional 1:1 version? What began as an ambitious idea quickly turned into one of the most impressive crossovers between automotive engineering and toy craftsmanship.
 
Building the LEGO McLaren P1 took a whopping <a href="https://www.planetf1.com/news/lando-norris-lego-technic-mclaren-p1-silverstone">8,344 hours</a>, with a team of 23 design, engineering, and building specialists working meticulously to bring this dream to life. Every detail, from the aerodynamic shape to the hybrid powertrain, was considered in this project. Incredibly, the LEGO McLaren P1 mirrors the dimensions of its real-world counterpart, measuring 196 inches long, 82.7 inches wide, and 44.6 inches high.

The LEGO P1 vs. The Real McLaren P1
Though the LEGO model weighs in at 2,689 pounds, about 400 pounds lighter than the original McLaren P1 hypercar, it doesn't quite match up in terms of horsepower. Unlike the real McLaren P1, which features a V8 hybrid engine, the LEGO version features a powertrain made up of 768 LEGO electric motors, grouped into eight motor packs. This setup, while not matching the real car's 900+ horsepower output, was enough to propel the LEGO car to speeds of <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/lando-norris-laps-silverstone-mclaren-143500008.html">50-60 km/h</a> (about 30-37 mph) on the Silverstone track. These motor packs were designed as an homage to the V8 engine of the original car, ensuring that the spirit of the P1 was captured in brick form.
 
Lando Norris took full advantage of this during his test drive at Silverstone. While the LEGO McLaren P1 isn’t designed for blistering lap times, Norris was able to guide it smoothly through Silverstone’s fast straights and technical turns.

This LEGO Technic McLaren P1 is the first full-size LEGO car capable of turning corners and completing a lap on a racetrack. Previous large-scale LEGO builds, such as the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQdlCQmzUAM">Bugatti Chiron</a>, were not designed to handle turns or complete laps.
 
From the Workshop to the Track
 
The process of building the LEGO Technic McLaren P1 was as much about precision as it was about creativity. Designers and engineers spent countless hours ensuring that the vehicle not only resembled the real McLaren P1 but functioned like one. The team had to overcome the challenge of constructing a structurally sound vehicle from plastic bricks while maintaining the functionality needed for it to drive.
 
The result is a 342,817-brick creation featuring functional steering, an electric powertrain, and a suspension system that allows it to handle like a true hypercar. 
 
Lando Norris, who’s used to handling high-performance machines, was thoroughly impressed. “Driving the LEGO Technic McLaren P1 was surreal,” Norris commented. “The attention to detail and the way it handled on track were impressive. It’s incredible to see what can be achieved with LEGO bricks.”

For McLaren, the project was another opportunity to showcase their commitment to innovation and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of motorsport. Even though the LEGO McLaren P1 doesn’t come close to the power output of the real thing, the achievement lies in creating a fully operational model that can actually handle real-world driving conditions.

Every year, local competitors from the UAE, surrounding nations in the Persian Gulf, and a host of international teams converge in Dubai to showcase their talent. Who Made it to the 2024 Roster?
 
The Dubai 24 Hours Race showcases a stunning array of vehicles, from the BMW M3 CSL, the first official race winner in 2006, to recent winners like the BMW M4 GT3 and Audi R8. The 2024 race will include 57 cars, with notable entries like the Ferrari 296 GT3 from Racing One and the Bentley Continental GT3 from Team Parker Racing. MRS GT-Racing is making a return with a Porsche 992 GT3 R, and 7TSIX will represent McLaren with a 720S GT3.

Two former Hankook 24H Dubai outright winners headline the 23-car GT3 class. Herberth Motorsport, the 2017 event winner, and Car Collection Motorsport, the 2019 champion, are both aiming for a second victory. The GT3 class also includes potential frontrunners Haas RT and Saintéloc Junior Team, both having clinched their first outright wins in 2023.

What Makes the Dubai 24 Hours Race Special?
 
The Dubai 24 Hours race stands out for several reasons. Its unique position as a melting pot, reflecting Dubai's diverse expatriate community, allows various participants from different backgrounds to compete. A notable aspect of this race is its refueling structure, quite distinct from other events. Expectations for the 2024 Race
 
This year's race, closing the 2023/2024 24H Series Middle East Trophy, promises a thrilling grid of over 50 cars, featuring a mix of former winners, reigning champions, and newcomers. Team WRT of Belgium, the winner for the past two years, will unfortunately not participate this year due to scheduling conflicts, leaving the track open for new champions to emerge. Over the years, manufacturers like Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi have claimed victories, with Porsche leading with six wins.
 
The upcoming race also features former Formula 1 drivers Sergey Sirotkin and Vitaliy Petrov making their 24H Series debuts. Alongside them, 2012 World Touring Car Champion Rob Huff will return to GT3 racing. Nico Prost, son of the legendary Alain Prost, will drive a developmental Ginetta G56 Cup with Toro Verde in GTX, adding further excitement to the race. Notable participants include three-time title winners Jeroen Bleekemolen of Holland, Khaled Al Qubaisi of UAE, and Hubert Haupt of Germany.

While it may spark differing opinions on its aesthetic appeal, one can't overlook its exhilarating performance and unbridled design. This hypercar follows the legacy of the Huayra R, setting itself apart as the “best-performing open-top” the marque has ever created.

Born on the iconic tracks of Imola in Bologna, Italy, the Imola Roadster draws inspiration from its predecessors, the Huayra Roadster BC and the Huayra R. It boasts an advanced aerodynamic design and a heart-stopping 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine crafted by AMG specifically for Pagani.
 
Delivering a formidable 850 horsepower and 811 lb/ft of torque, the engine is encased in a featherlight frame weighing just 1,260 kg. It's equipped with a seven-speed Xtrac sequential gearbox and a six-pipe titanium exhaust system. This configuration not only produces an astonishing auditory experience but propels the vehicle to a breathtaking top speed of over 217 mph.
 
Aerodynamic Focus and Design
 
Designed for superior aerodynamic efficiency rather than sheer speed, the Roadster achieves an impressive 1,323 lbs of downforce at 174 mph. The design features enhanced front air intakes, dual warm air outlets, and wheel arch openings for enhanced cooling efficiency and aerodynamics. A distinctive roof scoop aids the V12 engine, and a central fin contributes to stability.

Handling the Roadster is reimagined with its state-of-the-art suspension system. The combination of an independent double wishbone, helical springs, and electronically controlled shock absorbers, synchronized with active aerodynamics, results in a drive that is both exhilarating and precise.
 
The Imola Roadster is fitted with special forged wheels and Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires, ensuring peak performance across all driving conditions while delivering superior comfort on-board.
