McLaren's official spec lists the Artura at 0-62 mph in 3.0 seconds.

Independent tests consistently report 0-60 times clustered around 2.9 to 3.1 seconds.

Tyres, launch method and test conditions explain most of the small differences between published times.

Quick answer: What is the Artura's 0-60 mph time?

2023 mclaren artura

The short headline: McLaren lists the Artura at 0-100 km/h, which is 0-62 mph, in 3.0 seconds as the factory specification, and independent testers typically record the Arturas 0-60 mph runs in the high 2.9 to low 3.1 second range McLaren technical specification.

The slight difference between a 0-60 and a 0-62 figure is mostly down to rounding and test method; independent road tests that instrumented the Artura report results clustered close to the factory claim, with variation tied to surface and tyre conditions Car and Driver first drive.

In short, expect published 0-60 times for the standard 2023 Artura to sit around 2.9-3.1 seconds in independent tests, and to match McLarens 0-62 claim of 3.0 seconds when accounting for measurement differences. For an at-a-glance database of reported runs see 0-60 Specs.

What the 0-60/0-62 figure actually means

Acceleration benchmarks are shorthand checks of straight-line performance. The 0-60 mph metric measures how long a car takes to accelerate from a standing start to 60 miles per hour, while 0-62 mph is the same run to 100 km/h. Both are commonly used by manufacturers and publications to compare cars.

Manufacturers sometimes quote 0-62 mph because it aligns with the round metric 0-100 km/h used in many global markets; the factory specification for the Artura lists 0-100 km/h as 3.0 seconds, which is the official reference for McLarens claim McLaren technical specification.

Factory numbers come from controlled tests that aim to show the best-case result under repeatable conditions, while independent tests reflect real-world variables such as tyre choice, ambient temperature and exact launch procedure. Treat factory and editorial figures as complementary rather than contradictory.

How independent tests measure 0-60 and why results vary

Editorial testers use a mix of instruments and procedures to measure acceleration. Typical methods include GPS-based loggers, Vbox systems and timing lights; publications usually describe their chosen system and the test conditions in the notes for each run MotorTrend first test.

warm tyres and consistent surface improve repeatability

Variability between reported 0-60 figures comes from controllable items like whether launch control was used and tyre temperature, and from uncontrollable items like road grip and ambient conditions. Testers will often make multiple runs and report the best consistent time rather than a single outlier.

Rounding practices also play a role: a 0-60 run of 2.95 seconds may be reported as 2.9 or 3.0 depending on the publications rounding rules and whether the result is a 0-60 or a 0-62 measurement.

Artura performance specs: powertrain, weight and launch systems

The Artura uses a compact hybrid V6 and a battery-assist electric motor to produce a combined output reported by testers and manufacturers as a figure that underpins its strong acceleration and mid-engined dynamics MotorTrend first test.

Key hardware that matters for 0-60 runs includes the hybrid power delivery profile, the transmission and the cars mass and traction setup. A lighter curb weight and effective traction control let the Artura convert available power into quick launches without excessive wheelspin in many conditions.

Real-world 0-60 times recorded by road testers

Independent publications instrumented the Artura and reported best runs clustered around 2.9 to 3.1 seconds. Car and Drivers test notes and measured runs fall into that band for typical best attempts Car and Driver first drive.

MotorTrends first-test instrumentation and notes report similar measured runs, with the publications best numbers also landing in the high 2-second to low 3-second window depending on conditions and tyre setup MotorTrend first test.

Road & Tracks review and testing commentary further supports the clustered range, noting how test conditions and preconditioning influenced each run rather than suggesting a widely different base number Road & Track review.

Taken together, the independent reports form a consensus: the standard Artura is capable of sub-3.1 second 0-60 runs in properly prepared conditions and with launch aids engaged, which aligns closely with McLarens factory 0-62 specification. Key factors that materially affect measured acceleration

Tyre compound, tyre temperature and pressure are among the largest single influences on a best 0-60 run. Sticky, warmed tyres and the correct pressures give better initial traction and quicker times MotorTrend first test.

Surface grip, elevation and ambient temperature also change results. Higher altitude reduces engine power slightly on combustion engines and cooler or wet surfaces reduce available traction. Testers that control for these variables typically report more repeatable times.

Vehicle preconditioning is important for hybrids: battery state of charge and component temperatures influence how much electric assist is available for an all-out launch. When testers note battery state or preconditioning, it helps explain outlier runs in either direction.

How the Artura stacks up against close rivals in straight-line tests

Among lightweight hybrid supercars the Artura is very quick, but published side-by-side benchmarks often show it marginally behind the fastest contemporary production benchmarks by a few tenths in 0-60 tests, a gap that can matter only to headline-focused buyers Car and Driver first drive. Those differences are usually traceable to tyre setup, traction limits and in some cases comparative weight or peak power. For a buyer focused on overall performance, use independent test figures as one input rather than the sole deciding factor. Is a few tenths important? Practical perspective for buyers

For most owners a margin of a few tenths of a second in 0-60 time is negligible in everyday driving. The real-world experience of the cars handling, comfort, and dealer support typically matters more when owning and using a supercar on the road Car and Driver first drive.

If straight-line bragging rights are a priority, compare multiple independent tests and note the conditions under which the quickest times were achieved rather than relying on a single published run.

Checklist for verifying 0-60 claims on a listing or at a test drive

Ask whether the time on the listing is a manufacturer claim or an independent measured figure, and if independent, which publication and test conditions produced it. That context helps you assess how comparable the number is to your own likely experience Road & Track review. If you need to check a specific listing, open the listing and confirm tyre and equipment notes.

Check the tyre specification and wheel size on the listing, and ask if the car has non-stock tyres or modifications that would change traction or power. If possible, request details on battery state for hybrid cars when the figure was recorded.

Common mistakes and misunderstandings when reading 0-60 numbers

Avoid treating a single test run as definitive; one-off runs can be outliers from either a lucky start or a traction-limited attempt. Look for multiple independent results before drawing conclusions MotorTrend first test.

Do not assume a factory figure will be reproducible by any driver under everyday conditions. Factory tests are controlled and optimised; real-world variability usually makes a personal best run slower than the factory claim unless conditions match the test setup closely.

Practical scenarios: what owners can expect in daily use or on track

On the street the Arturas acceleration will feel rapid and immediate, but best 0-60 launches require warmed tyres and often launch control, which are not typical for everyday commuting or casual driving Road & Track review.

On a track or controlled performance day the Arturas hybrid powertrain and chassis can be exploited for repeatable high-performance runs, but owners who want consistent best-possible 0-60 results should consider tyre choice and a warm-up routine that ensures traction and battery readiness.

Summary: key takeaways on the Artura's acceleration

Manufacturer claim: McLaren lists the Artura at 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.0 seconds, which remains the official factory specification McLaren technical specification.

Independent tests: measured 0-60 mph times cluster around roughly 2.9 to 3.1 seconds in instrumented runs, with variation tied to tyres, launch method and test conditions. Use the checklist above when comparing listings or arranging a test drive.
