As Ferrari positions it, the Roma is a neo-classical GT aimed at bringing a lightweight, refined V8 experience to buyers who value design and comfort as much as outright lap times, with the car's architecture built around a 3.9 L twin-turbo V8 and a touring-first brief Ferrari - Roma.

Who the Roma suits best is straightforward: a buyer seeking a stylish, usable Ferrari V8 for long drives and city cruising, an enthusiast who values steering feel and balance over the last tenth of lap time, or a collector who wants a contemporary Ferrari with clear design intent and strong build quality.

Key specs and real-world performance figures

The Roma is powered by a 3.9 L twin-turbo V8, with factory peak output quoted at roughly 620 CV, a configuration that frames the car as a potent V8 GT rather than a stripped-out track specialist Ferrari - Roma.

Independent testers and manufacturer figures place 0-62 mph performance at about 3.4 seconds and top speed near 199 mph, numbers that align across contemporary road tests and the maker's published data, and that help explain the car's strong real-world passing ability Car and Driver review.

Beyond headline times, the Roma's mid-range power delivery and transmission calibration are central to how those numbers feel on the road. Testers note that the engine's torque band and the gearbox ratios favour strong in-gear acceleration, which makes motorway overtakes and mid-speed passing feel effortless without needing to rev to the limiter Car and Driver review.

Because the Roma is set up as a GT, peak figures translate into a flexible performance envelope for everyday driving rather than an all-or-nothing, track-first feel. That means drivers will typically experience brisk roll-on acceleration and ample mid-range thrust for most real-world scenarios, with the raw 0-62 number serving as confirmation of the car's capabilities rather than its only selling point Ferrari - Roma.

Driving impressions from independent road tests consistently describe the Roma as favouring grand-touring composure over raw track aggression, with precise, communicative steering and a well-balanced chassis that encourages confident driving on public roads Car and Driver review and MotorWeek road test.

Compared with Ferrari's more track-oriented V8 models, the Roma softens suspension tuning and NVH isolation to deliver a more comfortable daily experience, which is a conscious trade-off that emphasises usability and long-distance manners rather than reducing lap times Top Gear review.

That balance delivers a driving character where the Roma feels eager and lively in corners but without the brittle, edge-of-limit behaviour some purists might expect from a Ferrari V8; in short, it rewards engaged drivers while remaining accessible for less aggressive daily use Car and Driver review.

On the track the Roma is competent and composed, but testers note its chassis and electronic calibrations are not optimised for consistent, maximum-effort lap times. Occasional track days are possible and enjoyable, yet buyers who prioritise track domination will find more targeted options elsewhere in Ferrari's range Top Gear review and CarsGuide review.
