The cabin's overhead installation is crafted from a single piece of leather that was selected from over a thousand hides. Project MAYBACH by Virgil Abloh

In 2021 shockwaves spread across the fashion and music industries after the untimely loss of creative visionary Virgil Abloh. His name and immense cultural influence was treasured by all those around him, especially within the close-knit circle of high fashion. Through his seminal work with Off-White and his historic role as the first Black artistic director at Louis Vuitton, Virgil Abloh gracefully navigated the intense demands of his positions. His infectious smile and unwavering positivity were hallmarks of his approach. Abloh revolutionized the fashion industry, setting a new standard in high fashion while redefining the status quo for generations of talent to come.

In honor of his memory, Mercedes-Benz released the fruit of their Project MAYBACH collaboration, a groundbreaking alliance that was forged back in 2020. This significant and enduring partnership marked a fusion of creative genius, bringing together Mercedes-Benz's Chief Design Officer Gorden Wagener with the visionary Virgil Abloh. Their combined efforts not only bridged the gap between automotive design and fashion but also elevated the concept of automotive partnerships to unprecedented levels.

Building on the success of their initial creation, Project Geländewagen, a rally-inspired interpretation of the iconic G-Wagon, the team then embarked on Project MAYBACH. This endeavor started as a mere sketch, evolving into a concept that envisioned a future where luxury flirted with adventure– encouraging explorations into forests, over mountains, and alongside the seven seas.

The striking gold and gloss black exterior of the coupé stretches an impressive 20 feet, dwarfing the S-Class limousine and offering a two-seater configuration that could arguably boast the world's most generous legroom. Much of its length is attributed to an elongated front end adorned with integrated solar cells. True to the Maybach legacy, the vehicle features a distinctive barred grille at the forefront, complemented by a series of safari-style lights. The design flows into a sloped, transparent roofline merging seamlessly into a rear that resembles the aft of a spacecraft. A roof rack equipped with lights similar to the front adds to the vehicle's unique blend of luxury sedan and rugged off-roader aesthetics.

Inside, the influence of Abloh is unmistakably present. The interior, bathed in tan leather that echoes the exterior's palette, offers a minimalistic yet futuristic ambiance reminiscent of the command deck of the Starship Enterprise. Although the design leans towards minimalism, it still accommodates an impressively large infotainment screen centrally located on the dashboard, adding a cinematic touch to the car's interior. Abloh and Wagener's vision for the car's interior artfully balances simplicity with technological sophistication.

Bugatti Chiron Hermès Edition

Ettore Bugatti and Emile-Maurice Hermès are two prestigious names that are virtually unrivaled within the luxury sphere. So it's understandable that no minor detail can be spared when you bring together one of the most powerful hypercar marques in the world with one of the most extravagant fashion houses known to man. So what exactly do you get when you unite two of the most iconic brands in French history?

That’s where Manny Khoshbin came in, a US-based billionaire and real estate magnate, renowned for owning one of the world's most exquisite car collections. Among his prized possessions is the Bugatti Chiron Hermès Edition, a hypercar of unparalleled uniqueness and craftsmanship. Based in California, Khoshbin's collection boasts three other Bugattis, yet none match the singular allure of this Hermès collaboration.

Khoshbin, an ardent admirer of both Bugatti and Hermès, reserved a construction slot for the Chiron as early as 2015. The design process, initiated in 2016, was an intricate journey, taking three years to reach completion. This period saw countless emails exchanged, numerous trips to Paris, and a deep involvement in every aspect of the car's design. From its custom-made upholstery and unique finishes to its striking glass roof, no expense was spared.

To illustrate his idea of uniqueness, Khoshbin mentions declining the offer for the Chiron Super Sport 300+, seeking something far more rare. His admiration for both the esteemed French luxury brand Hermès and the allure of exclusive Bugattis led to a unique collaboration: the creation of the singular Hermès Edition Bugatti Chiron.

Khoshbin and the designers experimented with various colors – silver, blue, and brown – before ultimately choosing the sophisticated Hermès Craie, a chalk white hue. His collection, which includes a one-of-a-kind Hermès Edition Pagani Huayra, reflects his impeccable taste for luxury vehicles that are both understated and lavish.

Khoshbin's Bugatti is more than meets the eye. At first glance, it might appear as a sleek cream-colored Chiron, but a closer look reveals its unique features. The iconic horseshoe grille is intricately designed with 'H's, and the underside of the rear wing is adorned with an elegant Hermès Courbettes horse pattern. In a departure from standard Chirons, the entire rear bumper is painted to match the body, adding to its refined appearance.

The interior of Khoshbin's Bugatti is equally impressive. The door inserts are embellished with specially designed cashmere fabric featuring the Hermès horse pattern, mirroring the exterior detail. Adding to its exclusivity, a "Dressed by Hermès" badge in elegant French script graces the center stack. This attention to detail extends throughout the vehicle, with numerous one-of-a-kind badges adorning the door sills and other parts of the car, marking it as a true masterpiece of automotive art.
