Vehicle Description

This 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS was completed on April 30, 1974, and was delivered new to Chinetti-Garthwaite Imports in Pennsylvania. Chassis 08118 was sold to its first owner via Baker Motors of Buckhead, Georgia, and spent time in California, West Virginia, and California before it was purchased out of Virginia in 2013 by the last owner, a 24 Hours of Le Mans class-winning racing driver. The car is finished in red over black upholstery, and power comes from a mid-mounted 2.4-liter V6 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Features include Koni shocks, an ANSA exhaust system, a removable black roof panel, 14" Cromodora wheels, air conditioning, electric windows, and a Blaupunkt 8-track player.

Ferrari Classiche of Modena, Italy recently issued the Certificate of Authenticity for this 1974 Dino 246 GTS. This Dino 246 GTS is now offered by WCDM with factory books, tools, a Marcel Massini report, Ferrari Classiche "Red Book" ,period photos, recent service records, and a clean BC Registration.

Designed by Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina, the steel bodywork on this example was repainted in Rosso Chiaro and features an ANSA quad-exit exhaust, a removable black roof panel, a retractable antenna, a driver-side mirror, chrome split bumpers, and US-market recessed front turn signals and side markers. The Cromodora wheels feature yellow Dino-branded center caps and are mounted with 205/70VR14 Michelin XWX tires. A matching spare wheel is mounted in the front trunk. The four-wheel independent suspension features double wishbones, Koni shocks, and coil springs at all four corners as well as anti-roll bars front and rear. Stopping power is provided by vacuum-assisted discs all around. Fresh brake fluid was added by Ferrari Maserati of Central Florida in June 2021. The cabin features fixed-back bucket seats trimmed in black upholstery along with a matching rear bulkhead, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes power windows, a Blaupunkt AM/FM/8-track player, a gated shifter, a fire extinguisher, and Ferrari-branded floor mats. The Borletti air-conditioning system was recharged with R12 refrigerant in June 2021. The leather-wrapped MOMO three-spoke steering wheel frames Veglia Borletti instrumentation including a 170-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 7,800-rpm redline as well as a clock and gauges monitoring oil pressure, oil and coolant temperature, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 77k miles.

The mid-mounted 2.4-liter DOHC V6 features a 65° angle between cylinder banks and triple Weber 40 DCNF carburetors. An oil leak was repaired in June 2021. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transaxle. Fresh transaxle oil was added in June 2021. The Marcel Massini report lists the factory color combination, equipment, and component numbers.
