Vehicle Description

Ferrari Westlake is pleased to offer the opportunity to own what has been called the best combination of elegant, understated styling with state-of-the-art handling and performance of any Enzo-era Ferrari - a 1967 330 GTC Coupe. This model is slotted in between the 275 GTB Berlinetta, whose chassis it shared, and the more tranquil 330 2+2 Coupé, from which it inherited its 4-litre V12 engine. The 330 GTC Coupé was unveiled at the 1966 Geneva Salon, as an additional model to the Ferrari production car range. The V12 produced 300hp, propelling the car to a top speed of 150 miles per hour, was mated to a 5-Speed rear transaxle via torque tube connection which provided for excellent weight distribution. It was designed by Pininfarina, and was assembled at their works in Turin, before being delivered fully trimmed to Ferrari for fitment of mechanical components. The body forward of the windscreen was very similar in style to the Ferrari 500 Superfast model, while the rear end was reminiscent of the 275 GTS. The 330 GTC was unusual for a Ferrari in that it had a model badge on the boot lid, proclaiming '330'. Prior to this only a very few cars had any model identity on them, and those that did were normally 'Speciales’. It is regarded by many enthusiasts as being one of the best driving, user-friendly Ferrari's ever built. By the time production ceased in 1968, only 598 cars were built, solidifying its place in the rich lineage of Ferrari production models as a car that was both comfortable yet compelling with high-performance. This 300 GTC wears the Chassis #09899 and began its life in February of 1967 where the frame was sent to Pininfarina in Torino. Two months later, engine assembly was completed, supervised by Amos Franchini with a subsequent engine dyno test by engineer Bussi. By mid-May of that year, the Factory Certificate of Origin was issued, and the vehicle was delivered to the official Ferrari dealer Motor S.a.s di Carla Allgretti in Bologna, Italy. The original color is noted to be Azzuro over a Nero leather interior. This 330 was sold to a local individual in Bologna, where it was subsequently first registered. It was maintained at the Ferrari Factory Assistenza Clienti in Modena while it went on to trade hands twice, once in 1970 and 1972 respectively, both registering it in Bologna, Italy. In April of 1972, it was exported through an Italian dealer Michele Vernola of Milan to the USA, where it was then advertised by multiple Ferrari dealers and publications over the course of the next 10 years. Beginning in 1987 and finished in 1991, a restoration was completed by Shelton Sports Cars, where the vehicle was painted red and given a black leather interior. In 1999, the engine was completely rebuilt and road tested over the course of the next five years. When completed in 2004, this 330 GTC was put up for sale at auction where it did not transact. Later that year, it was shown at the 19th Annual Concorso Italiano held at Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside, California as well as the 41st Annual Ferrari Club of America International Concours in Monterey, California. In March of 2006, it was sold to an individual in San Diego, California who retained possession of the piece of art until it changed hands one final time in 2017 when it was sold to a collector in Venice Beach, California. Between 2017 and 2018, Gran Turismo Los Angeles overhauled yet another restoration, which replaced the clutch, oil lines, shocks, and rebuilt the engine, exhaust manifolds, and AC system. All necessary services were completed at that time, with a note that the suspension was restored six years prior. When the overhaul was finished in 2018, it was shown at the 11th Annual Ferrari Concours in Pasadena, California. It has remained a timeless piece of the current owner’s collection up until now, and we are more than excited to have the opportunity to find a new home for this wonderful piece of history. Cosmetically, this 330 GTC is in show quality condition and presents as a car that was just restored. The paint has a deep consistent shine, and it is clearly evident that the paint job was completed to the highest of standards. One would assume, much better than the factory standards when new. The panels are straight, and the shut gaps are excellent. All the chrome has a consistent, deep finish and has all been replaced. Even the commonly skipped chrome items such as the door handles, antenna, taillight surrounds, emblems, gas cap, window trim, and windshield trim have all been re-chromed to yield a show-quality finish. The seats are properly re-trimmed in the correct leather and have the correct pleating with a tight, firm finish. This quality of finish is also evident in the carpeting, door panels, headliner, sun visors, dash top, and rear shelf. The entirety of the interior is better than new exhibiting a tight, proper finish and even smells new. The gauges function properly, as do the radio, clock, and windows, along with all interior lighting and exterior lighting. The trunk has also been re-trimmed with correct carpeting. Mechanically, consistent power is delivered quickly by compressing the throttle emitting a symphony of Colombo V12 sound from the Ansa exhaust. The gated shifts are smooth, unleashing what seems like endless, intoxicating power after every upshift. The disc brakes operate as they should with no fading, chattering, or pulling. Steering is sharp and responsive with the car tracking straight down the road ahead. The suspension is properly set and is not excessively soft or too firm. The Ferrari 330 GTC provides one of the best vintage V12 grand touring experiences any enthusiast could ask for. It not only has timeless, stunning lines penned by Pininfarina, but it is also a very capable, well-balanced, and performance-oriented machine with the interior refinements of a Rolls Royce from the same time period. This restored, matching numbers example presents an exceptional opportunity to acquire a limited production, vintage Enzo-Era V12 Ferrari that is ready to be shown or toured in numerous prestigious events worldwide. This European-designated spec comes complete with manuals, a tool kit, spare, jack, a full history report by Marcel Massini, and service records. The odometer reads 32,283 kilometers, which equates to 20.059 miles.
