Lewis Hamilton, the legendary seven-time Formula 1 World Champion, has recently made headlines with a significant lifestyle change: he’s sold his entire car collection to focus more on his passion for art. Once celebrated for his impressive garage filled with rare, high-performance vehicles—including a Pagani Zonda 760 LH, Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and even a 1995 McLaren F1—the British racing icon’s automotive chapter seems to have closed, at least for now.

 

Hamilton revealed that he no longer owns any cars, emphasizing his current interest in collecting art, which he considers more meaningful and lasting. However, despite his shift away from car collecting, he still harbors a deep admiration for one iconic Italian supercar: the Ferrari F40. This legendary machine, celebrated worldwide as a symbol of raw speed and design excellence, remains a dream car for him.

 

During recent interviews ahead of the 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Hamilton was asked about his interest in future car acquisitions. His reply was telling: “I don't have any cars anymore... but if I was going to get a car, it would be the F40. But that’s a beautiful piece of art.” For Hamilton, the F40 isn’t just a supercar; it’s a piece of history and a work of art, embodying the perfect balance between engineering mastery and aesthetic brilliance.

He's often seen arriving at races on Italian superbikes such as his Ducati Panigale V4 S and a limited-edition MV Agusta F4 LH44, crafted in collaboration with the Italian manufacturer. Yet, despite his extensive collection of exceptional cars, Hamilton’s ultimate automotive dream remains the Ferrari F40. He’s even expressed a desire to design his own car, envisioned as an “F44”—a modern homage to the iconic F40, with a stick-shift gearbox and a focus on driving purity, which he plans to pursue in the coming years.

Hamilton’s evolving relationship with vehicles reflects his journey from adrenaline junkie to art aficionado. Even though he has stepped back from collecting cars, his admiration for the Ferrari F40 endures as a symbol of automotive artistry and engineering brilliance.
