Vehicle Description

Vehicle Overview

First unveiled at Porsche's 70th anniversary celebration at the Rennsport Reunion VI in California in September of 2018, the 935 was a limited-edition, track-only special that paid homage to the original 935 race cars. Achieving remarkable success worldwide during the late 1970s, 935's secured victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1979 and the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1978 and 1980.

The reimagined 935 was based on the already insane 991.2 911 GT2 RS Clubsport, but featured defining new bodywork that was stated by Porsche to evoke the long-tail 935/78 race car. Affectionately nicknamed "Moby Dick" by fans in reference to Herman Melville's mythical white whale, the 935/78 was characterized by an elongated shape, massive fairings, white base color, and prominent rear wing.

The 935 body features newly developed parts that were rendered from carbon fiber composite. Including the distinctive wheel-arch air vents on the front fairings from the GT3R while increasing downforce at the front axle. Measuring almost 6 feet across, the 935's adjustable rear wing evoked that of its predecessor while lending aerodynamic balance.

Other exterior details also paid tribute to vehicles from Porsche's motor racing heritage: the center-lock BBS wheels with carbon fiber aero disks were reminiscent of the 935/78, while the LED rear lights on the rear-wing end plates were inspired by the 919 Hybrid LMP1 race car. The side mirrors drew from the more recent Le Mans-winning 911 RSR, while exposed titanium tailpipes were modeled after the 1968 Porsche 908.

The 935 is powered by a 3.8-liter, water-cooled, twin-turbocharged flat-six. The powerhouse engine featured lightweight construction with titanium componentry and direct fuel injection. Other innovations included a water-spraying system to cool intake air, and variable turbine geometry turbochargers to minimize turbo lag and ensure more linear power delivery. Porsche Stability Management including traction control, as well as an anti-lock braking system were standard.

While developing 700 hp at 7,000 rpm, the engine's 553 lbs./ft. of peak torque is available between 2,500 and 4,000 rpm. A seven-speed, dual-clutch PDK channeled the power to the rear axle and was operated by the paddle shifters on the GT3R steering wheel. Paired with the more aerodynamic shape, Porsche claims the 935 could do 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds and have a top speed of 211 mph.

The 935's cabin was stripped down to bare metal. Some interior features include 2 carbon fiber wraparound Recaro bucket seats with a six-point harness, a multifunction yolk-style carbon steering wheel and digital gauge cluster from a GT3R, a comprehensive roll cage, a carbon fiber roof-mounted escape hatch, and an electrically triggered fire suppression system. Additionally something you wouldn't find on too many track cars is the dual-zone air-conditioning.

This one being number 16 out of the production run of 77 that were offered only to Porsche's VIP customers, this 935 finished in extremely rare matte exposed carbon fiber, and was ordered with a $44,300 spare-parts package consisting of extra Carbon Fiber components and spare parts. Other items accompanying the sale include purchase documentation, a binder of technical information, and additionally the optional passenger Recaro seat.

Maintained as part of an extensive Porsche collection since it was delivered by Porsche Motorsport in August 2019, this 935 indicates only delivery mileage, and remains very much in pristine, as-supplied condition. With such limited production, the availability of this Martini-liveried 935 presents an exceptional opportunity to join a very exclusive driver's club.
