Vehicle Description

ABOUT THIS VEHICLE

Amazingly original 1966 911 in Irish Green over Black interior. This very early 911 is a stunning survivor, one of a reported 1,709 produced for the world and is now available for the first time since being part of our private collection since 2016. The car originally came to us from a local collector that acquired the 911 from the previous owner in California where the car had been for several years with a well-known Porsche enthusiasts that takes great pride in finding and caring for well preserved original cars.

The car originally came to us in 2016. After performing our comprehensive inspection we were able to confirm the engine and transmission numbers are original to the 911. Paint meter readings are consistent with expected readings for factory paint levels and the paint condition shows expected levels of wear consistent with the age of the car. The interior remains very original with exception to the front seat covers had been replaced at some time during the cars history. A previous owner installed a rare one-piece Coco Mat to protect the floor which is still with the car. We also found that the engine had been rebuilt to 2.4L specifications at some point in the cars history. Unfortunately previous ownership documents did not come with the car so we are not able to determine who and when the engine rebuild was performed. During our initial inspection process we performed a major service along with completing other updates and repairs at the same time. Updates and repairs included new fuel filter, new engine lid strut, new oil tank lines, new valve cover gaskets, new heat exchangers, new muffler, new oil return tubes with O-rings, resealed the oil filter base mount assembly, installed a new battery, new brake hoses, performed a brake system fluid flush, replaced front lid struts, replaced front strut inserts and rear shocks, transmission fluid change, and adjusted wheel bearings. We also replaced the speedometer cable and seals, and installed a new oil level transmitter and gasket.

At the time of initial reconditioning we decided to remove the engine and transmission assembly for complete updating. Parts updated or replaced included oil return tubes, chain guides, timing chains, connecting rod sleeves, connecting rod bolts, oil hose lines, rocker arms, valve springs, main bearings, and engine gaskets. We had the engine crank shaft checked for balancing, camshafts polished, and carburetors reconditioned. We also installed a new clutch assembly, belt, and oil thermostat as well as resealed the transmission assembly and installed a new reverse light switch.

When the 911 came out of our private collection we performed another comprehensive inspection due to the amount of time spent in storage. During the inspection we replaced the fuel level sending unit and cleaned / rebuilt the carburetors. We also replaced a window guide assembly, performed an engine oil change, flushed the brake system fluid, replaced tie rod ends and necessary hardware, replaced front hood struts, shift boots, various exterior bulbs, and performed a 4 wheel alignment.

We also performed a compression and cylinder leak-down test which resulted in the following:
Cylinder #1 - 150psi compression / 4% leakage
Cylinder #2 - 148psi compression / 2.5% leakage
Cylinder #3 - 148psi compression / 4% leakage
Cylinder #4 - 141psi compression / 4% leakage
Cylinder #5 - 141psi compression / 2.5% leakage
Cylinder #6 - 142psi compression / 2.5% leakage

We do our best to ensure the accuracy of items described in this listing are correct; however, due to age of the vehicle and limited access to historical evidence we cannot guarantee all items listed in the description including mileage and originality of materials is accurate.
